Cotswold Riding for the Disabled is governed by its Board of Trustees/Directors who are responsible for the management and conduct of the charity. It sets the strategic direction to enable us to work towards achieving our Vision “Where Aspirations become a reality.”
We are very fortunate to have a strong Board that have the right skill sets to work to our Vision. We are supported by an amazing, albeit small, team of employees; a Charity Manager; Equestrian Education Manager; Yard Manager and Groom, all of whom are committed to providing our amazing services. However, without our wonderful band of volunteers we could not operate so it is with their support that we are where we are today.
We are also blessed with having some amazing support through our Patron Natasha Baker, MBE and Vice Presidents Edward Gillespie, OBE, The Lady Vestey and Eileen O’Mahoney. We are extremely grateful for their support and commitment to the charity.
Duncan is an experienced committee chair and has been involved with a number of Charities. He places great value on volunteer support, open communication and visibility of what the Board is doing. He brings a broad range of skills including finance, commercial planning and business development.
Jerry has over 30 years experience in the Civil Service and brings a wealth of experience including managing complex operational activities and staff management and development. He is a keen participant in animal assisted therapy and can regularly be seen with his accredited therapy dog Matt.
Judith is one of the qualified RDA instructors who delivers our core lesson schedule as well as a range of other activities and competitions. She has over twenty years’ commercial experience and an honours degree in law.
Judy first started with CRDA in 1965 when the group was formed. She is now a retired Qualified Accountant with expertise in small business turnaround and therefore brings a strong set of skills to the Board to ensure financial best practice.
Jo has over 30 years’ experience of bringing the best out of leaders, managers and teams working in the public sector. She is currently training as a therapeutic counsellor.
Julie has worked as a senior nurse and has a wide range of managerial skills. She is currently working as a Training & Compliance Officer for a local care home group, and is responsible for providing training and personal development for new and existing staff members.
As a solicitor, administration is a key skill and fits nicely with the role of company secretary. Lloyd’s experience spans legal issues from employment to property to contractual terms and conditions.
As Charity Manager, Claire is responsible for the overall administration and fundraising for the charity. She initially started with us as a Volunteer before joining as a member of staff. Claire has a broad range of professional skills including a strong background in sales. Her organisational skills and attention to detail are key requisite skills for this important role.
Equestrian Education Manager
Heather is an experienced BHSI instructor and has many years of teaching experience. Her skills and ideas have allowed us to develop many new initiatives which have made a significant difference in terms of the activities we can now offer to riders.
Debbie has been with us for over 4 years and is a well respected Yard Manager. She has overall responsibility for the welfare of our ponies and has been instrumental in developing/choreographing our Musical Rides for which we have received numerous RDA Regional and National awards.
Lou came to us through an apprenticeship scheme, her hard work and commitment has really shone through and she has now become a permanent and valuable member of the team.
